He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry "Herbert" Shields and Mamie Lou Wright Shields. He is survived by: his wife Emma Frances Shields; his sons, Jonathan (Susan Shields) and Jarrod (Tonya Shields); his grandchildren, Jonathan Shields II, David Shields, Amanda Dagani, Matthew Dagani, AnnMarie Shields, Joel Shields, Evan Shields and Heath Harris; his great grandchildren, Ava Shields, River Shields, Lillian Dagani, Leiloni Harris and Elijah Harris; his brother Charles; his sister-in-law Glenda Shields of Boaz; his son Macon Shields; and his siblings, James Shields, Dan Shields, Henley Shields, Thomas Shields and Mary Jo Sumners.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, December 4th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Mcrae Funeral Home (99 Glenda Dr, Boaz, AL 35957). A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, December 4th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the McRae Chapel (123 N Main St, Boaz, AL 35957). A burial was held on Wednesday, December 4th 2024 at the Hillcrest Cemetery.
