Zafira Joseph Obituary
A pillar of grace and dignity throughout her life, Zafira left her cherished family to be with Christ. Her life centered around sacrifice and love for her family, from cuddling the newborns to caressing the dying. Her goal was to celebrate this Christmas with all her family, which she did.
She and her husband, Ernest (d.2004), were dedicated members of St. Elias Maronite Church, where Zafira was an active member of the Ladies Altar Society and made lifelong friendships in the community. She is survived by her daughters Anita Conkling (Paul), Theresa Thornton (Steve), Beverly Joseph, Denise Nakos (George), Rosie Charles (Patrick), and Deanna Joseph, 8 grandchildren, their partners, and 3 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Wednesday January 3, 2023 from 9:00a until 10:30a with funeral Mass to follow at St. Elias Maronite Church in Birmingham and graveside at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org
