She is survived by: her husband Donald Spears; her children, Marlon (Mildred), Dominique and Stephen Spears; her grandchildren, Kimya and Karmen Spears; her children, Donna, Leonard Jr., Misti, Myron, Jasmine, Cedric, Roberta, Aisha, Rhoda and Kevin; her grandchildren, Ciniyah, Keshawn, Kyron, Casey, Morgan, Maliq, Taylor and Nevaeh; her godchildren, Kelsey (Tiffany) and Carlos Commings; her brother Dorkas L. Benson (Delois) of Strongsville, Ohio; her niece Cynthia Benson of Brooklyn; her siblings-in-law, Jerry Spears (Sadie) of Hamilton, Alabama, Wilma Trulove of Kansas City, Maxine Standifer (Harold) of Smithfield, Margret Terrell of Huntsville, Alabama and Ya-Ya; and her sisters, Beverly Caver (James) of Birmingham, Carolyn Kelly (Anthony) of Birmingham and Gwendolyn Mason of Birmingham. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 28th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Smith & Gaston Funeral Services (102 6th Ave SW, Birmingham, AL 35211). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Christian Valley Baptist Church (3104 33rd Terrace N, Birmingham, AL 35207). A burial will be held on Saturday, March 1st 2025 at 3:00 PM at the George Washington Carver Memorial Gardens (1020 Minor Pkwy, Birmingham, AL 35244).
