He is survived by: his wife Aquilla Nickson Varner; his children, Andre Batton, Thomas "Tony" Varner Fultz and Rosilyn Varner; his siblings, Maggie Dixon, Willa Dean Williams, Vera Rush, Edward Jackson, Willie Varner, James Harold Varner (Althora) and Roosevelt Varner (Pauline); his children, Tangela Varner-Broomfield (Lewis), Darryl Varner (Jacquie), Kimberly Sloan (Thomas), Jeff Morris, Aquilla Danielle Fultz and Ronnie Nickson; and his brothers-in-law, Alvin "Bubba" Nickson and Rodger Davis (Athenian). He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be held on Friday, March 7th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Kirksey's Mortuary (3500 Ave I, Birmingham, AL 35218). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Kincheon Road Church of God (4129 Co Rd 9, Clanton, AL 35045). A committal service will be held on Saturday, March 8th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
