He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Thomas Emerson Simpkins, Sr. and Katherine Jennings Simpkins; and his sister Patricia Simpkins Garman (Richard). He is survived by: his wife Mary Marguerite Royal; his children, Thomas Emerson Simpkins, III (Holly), Catherine Anne Simpkins (Sandy) and David Royal Simpkins (Tom); his grandsons, Michael Simpkins and Matthew Simpkins; and his sisters, Kay Simpkins Duncan (Don) and Anne Laine Goad (Jerry).
