She was predeceased by: her husband Robert D. Johnston; her children, John Robert Johnston, Kerry W. Johnston and Dennis Miles Johnston; and her mother Ada Thompson.

She is survived by: her children, Richard D. Johnston (Linda), George Frank Johnston, Katherine Louise Johnston Hoagland (Patrick), Bridgett Ann Johnston Jones (Henry) and Jena Louise Johnston O'Bryant (Johnathan); her daughters-in-law, Cathy Johnston and Laura Johnston; and her grandchildren, Sherry Lynn Slavin (Kevin), Terry Lee Johnston (Marcella), Gary Lane Johnston, Julie Johnston, Scott Allen Johnston (Alisha), Susan Johnston Churchwell (Randall), Heather Johnston, Amie Johnston Baker (Dustin), David Floyd (Jennifer) and Stephen Johnston (LaShaye). She is also survived by many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
