John Wernert wrote a sympathy message

“Malinda, Paul and I were in regular touch for the last 2 years as it was my honor to serve at his side as his Parliamentarian when he was Assembly Speaker. Paul and I talked of many things - even faith, on occasion. So full of this life and adventures yet to come. No words can describe our loss of a Father, husband, friend and Brother on this earth - and for those that believe in a better place - we know that Paul is in that place! See you there soon my brother! John Wernert - Kentucky”

Ramaswamy Viswanathan wrote a sympathy message

“I knew Paul through the APA Assembly since he was a resident representative. He was a dynamic figure who quickly rose through the ranks to become the Speaker of the Assembly at a young age. He was tech savvy, and was the right person to be the Speaker as the APA Assembly had to hurriedly arrange its first ever virtual meeting due to the Covid pandemic. He was passionate about advocating for our patients. His passing away is a big loss. Sincere condolences to his family!”

Beverly Fulmer wrote a sympathy message

“I am a nurse in one of the hospitals in which Dr. O’Leary was our psychiatric medical director. I just made rounds with him on Tuesday morning, May 11. He looked great, was smiling, said he liked getting up early, seemed to be in a happy place. I was shocked to hear the saddened news that he had suddenly passed away. I didn’t know Dr. O’Leary very well but this was troubling to me as I worked my 12 hours on Wednesday night. My heart goes out to his wife and children.”

Jon Fanning wrote a sympathy message

“Paul was one of the greatest, brightest and most thoughtful human beings that I have ever known. He wanted the best for his family and everyone around him. We have known each other since his first year of residency when I asked him to serve as a reference committee chair for the AMA-RFS and then had the joy of working with him again at APA. Like many of you, I am heartbroken and will be that way for a long time. Jon Fanning”
