It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Melba Brown (Birmingham, Alabama), born in Gadsden, Alabama, who passed away on January 15, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
Though Melba may no longer walk beside us, her memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Melba touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In her absence, her spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
She was predeceased by: her husband William "Percy" Brown; her parents, Thomas Jefferson "TJ" Winningham and Zabelle "Deocie" Winningham; and her sister Shelby Winningham Holland. She is survived by: her children, Jeffrey S. Brown of Cropwell and Gayla Brown McCracken (Ron) of Oneonta; and her brother Roger Winningham (Janet) of Tuscaloosa. She is also survived by five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three nephews and a niece.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home (1591 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 21st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Corinthian Fund at Compassion Church Palmerdale in memory of Melba Brown.
