We are sad to announce that on May 20, 2023, at the age of 95, Martelle Merritt Dunn of Birmingham, Alabama, born in Evergreen, Louisiana passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Hasting Merritt and Eunice Merritt; her husband Jack; and her siblings, Hasting Calvin "Buddy" Merritt and Francis Hageman (James).

She is survived by: her son Joe Merrille Dunn (Ruthie); her granddaughter Jennifer Hall (Jason); her great grandchild Graham Hall; and her siblings-in-law, Peggy Merritt, Frank and Helen Dunn. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She graduated from Evergreen High School and then trained to be a nurse under the supervision of the Sisters of Charity of Schumpert Hospital.
