He was predeceased by: his son William Pittman; his parents, Merrill Pittman and Ethel Pittman; and his sister Kathleen Parker. He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Gayle Pittman; his daughters, Marsha "Lesa" Cole (Scott) and Julia Edwards (Ashley); his grandchildren, Colin Cole, Abigail Cole, Savannah Edwards, Emma Edwards and Lillian Edwards; and his siblings, Merrill Pittman (Barbara) and Lesa Pittman-Collins.
