He is survived by: his wife Jacqueline (Jackie); his children, Sara Plaia Maugh (Morgan) of Birmingham, Michele Plaia of New York, NY, Justine Plaia Regnier (Ryan) of Brookhaven, GA and Joseph James Plaia, III (Leslie) of Birmingham; his grandchildren, Jonathan Regnier, Jackson Maugh, Juliana Maugh, Luca Plaia, Whit Regnier, Penelope Plaia and Caroline Regnier; his brother Sam Plaia (Johanna) of Birmingham; and his sisters-in-law, Jeanne Barrentine (Kyle) of Birmingham and Jeri Schwartz (Louis) of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by cousins, nephews, nieces, friends, and Godchildren.
