He is survived by: his nephews, Brad (Marion) of Huntsville, Michael (Jennifer) of Huntsville and Jeff Lapidus (Meribeth) of Huntsville; his great-nieces, Gaby, Emily, Molly, Madison, Zoey, Margot and Ally; his great-nephew Matthew; his stepchildren, Judy Birer Schroffel (Bruce) of California, Peter Birer of Arizona, Jackie Birer Nelson (Craig) of Colorado and Jane Aronov Naftel (Jack) of North Carolina; his grandchildren, Michael, Laura, Matthew, Kate, Emily, Susan, Alex, Herman, Jackson and Lindsey; his great grandchildren, Anna, Thomas, Jack, Isla, Griffin, Janie and Henry; and his sister-in-law Barbara Lux Lapidus (Richard M. Lapidus).
