It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Jerlene Robinson Dawson of Birmingham, Alabama, who passed away on June 3, 2022, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Elbert Roy and Nellie; her husband Ben Dawson, Jr.; her siblings, Billy Gene Robinson, Mattie Bell White, Addie Mae Hicks, Frank Robinson, Margaret Ann Polk, Agnes Stockdale Hodge and Roy Robinson; and her grandsons, Roland LaDarryl Dawson and Steven McDaniel.
She is survived by: her children, Roland Dawson (Ruby) of Florence, Tommy Earl Dawson (Linda) of Alabaster, Bennie Joyce Andrews of Columbia, Bill Ray Dawson (Marva) of McCalla, Carolyn Hunter of Birmingham, Alabama and Jacqueline D. Jones (Quincy) of Birmingham, Alabama; her sister Roberta McPherson; her grandchildren, Renrick Hunter, LaTonja Green (Reginald), Roy Dawson (Beth), Anthony Dawson (Sherita), Gregory Dawson (Densie), Lewis Andrews, Jr., Tracie Andrews, Ashlee Andrews (André), Billie Ray Dawson, Jr., Brandon Dawson (Leia), Stacie N. Jones and Courtney L. Jones; her caregivers, Sezette Spivey, NaToya Booker and Love; and also, Vanessa, Cornessa Blaylock, Ernestine Sewell, Terina and Hurdle Samuels. She is also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
