It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Kitt Jr. (Birmingham, Alabama), who passed away on August 3, 2019, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Kitt and Lucinda Kitt. He is survived by: his siblings, Mary, Emmanuel, Katherine, Willie, Titus and Annie May; his wife Claudette Kitt; his children, Shirley, Deborah Smith (Arnell Smith), Mary Kitt Lovejoy, Antonio James Kitt (Tonya), Gwendette, Diana Hill, Tabatha Harris, Pamela Kitt, Felicia, Regina, Dricilla Gulley, Keith Kitt Sr. and Kerrick Kitt, Sr.; his siblings, Peter H. Kitt, Fred "Spunk" Dean and Rosie; and his cousin Freddie Mae Posey. He is also survived by 63 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
