He was predeceased by: his father Donald William McCormick, Sr.; his wife Virginia Morton McCormick; his mother Carolyn Bass McCormick Porter; his sister Jean McCormick; and his stepfather Paul Albes Porter.

He is survived by: his sister Paula Crockard (Francis); his children, Laura Abney (Richard), Donald McCormick (Cathy) and Gini Williams (Hunter); his grandchildren, Emily Anders (Justin), Bill Abney (Heather), Caroline Ornellas (Reese), Annie McCormick, Hunter Williams and Porter Williams (Katie); and his cousin Doris McCormick McBeth. He is also survived by his nine great grandchildren.
