He was predeceased by: his parents, Amos Thornburgh and Josephine Peavy Thornburgh; and his wife Mary Sue Maples Thornburgh. He is survived by: his sons, John Winston (Joanie Connell) and James Donald Thornburgh, Jr. (Chu Kim); and his granddaughters, Elizabeth Thorell, Riley and Kaylee Thornburgh of California.
