He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry Bland, Sr. and Annie Mae Edward Bland; his wife Mary A. Bland; and his siblings, Mary E. Bland Brown, Robert Bland, James Walton, Willie Walton, Corneilius Walton and Bennie Walton.
He is survived by: his children, Phyllis Bland King, Chester Bland of Birmingham, Alvin Bland (Carolyn) of Birmingham and Darryl Bland of Atlanta, Georgia; and his siblings-in-law, William Bryant of Birmingham, Alabama, Vendella Adams and Lizzie Bryant of Birmingham, Alabama.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 13th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Smith & Gaston Funeral Services (102 6th Ave SW, Birmingham, AL 35211). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the True Love Church (1001 35th Street Ensley, Birmingham, AL 35218). A burial was held on Saturday, December 14th 2024 at 12:45 PM at the George Washington Carver Memorial Gardens (1020 Minor Pkwy, Birmingham, AL 35244).
