He is survived by: his wife Betty Ann Piell; his children, Kim Luce, Jeff Piell (Erica), Matt Piell (Jenny) and Melodee Leon (John); his siblings, Ken Piell, Dan Piell and Jackie Barker; and his great grandchildren, Ashlee Meeks (Aaron), Cohen, Austin Luce (Faith), Elizabeth Siskey (Will), Kaylee Luce, Abby Ford (Seth), Kaleb Luce (Ashley), Nash, Adreanna Marsh (Kourtlan), Imelya Leon, John Leon, Jamarian Leon, Shae Leon, Christian Leon, Bri Jones and Kaylee McGlothen.

A funeral service was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Briarwood Presbyterian Church (2200 Briarwood Way, Birmingham, AL 35243).
