She was predeceased by: her parents, Marion Barrentine and Minnie Barrentine of Birmingham; her husband James W. Self; and her siblings, June Holman, Evelyn Wilson, Delia Kurtts, Dell Keiek, William Barrentine and Jimmy Barrentine. She is also survived by many family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gideons International to help spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
