It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Billy Joe Sims of Birmingham, Alabama, who passed away on January 21, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Sims and Ila Mae Dodd; his wife Mava June Mills Sims; his brother Jimmy Dewayne Sims; and his grandson Brandon Blackwood.
He is survived by: his children, Danny Joe Sims, Sherry Denise Malone (Jeff) and Mava Jill Morse (Bobby); and his granddaughters, Nicole Anchors (Ryan), Brooke Malone, Katie Malone and Brittani Blackwood. He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel (981 AL-253, Winfield, AL 35594). A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at the Whites Chapel Church of Christ.
