Bettie J. Carter Ellsberry Obituary
Bettie J. Carter Ellsberry began her expedition on Earth, on August 2nd, 1956, in the town of Orrville, Al. This "bundle of joy" was born to Samuel Johnson and Rosie L. Carter. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and served as an usher and deaconess at her home church, Lily Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Birmingham, Alabama.
She was a graduate of A.H. Parker High School and continued her education at Alabama A&M University in Normal, AL in Criminal Justice/Psychology. Bettie was a compassionate and phenomenal woman of courage, endurance, strength, and perseverance. Although she was a woman of few words, her presence would light up a room with love.
She married the love of her life, Edward Ellsberry Jr, on May 25th 1991. They had one son, Denzel Ellsberry, whom she loved dearly and was her best friend. Bettie started her career with Brunos Corporation in the finance department in 1990 where she worked there for sixteen years.
She finished her career at Vulcan Materials where she had been employed since 2006. She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family, and being a proud alumnus of A.H. Parker Thundering Heard and Alabama A&M Bulldogs. Bettie had a natural way of caring for her family and friends that made everyone know they were special.
She lived a full life. After a brief battle of illness, she transitioned from her earthly body to her heavenly home on December 21, 2023. She leaves to cherish her memories and examples of love, friendship, and stewardship: husband Edward Ellsberry Jr; son Denzel Lamar Ellsberry; mother Rosie L. Carter; father Samuel (Rose) Johnson; sisters, Patricia (Lorenzo) Merritt , Mary Carter, Alisa Carter; brothers, Wilbert (Wendy) Carter Johnson, Daryl Carter, and by late brother Robert Carter.
