With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James Edward Hogg of Bessemer, Alabama, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 10, 2024 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Thelma; his parents, James Hogg and Vera Hogg; his daughter Linda Hogg; his granddaughter Leslie Hogg; and his brother Danny Hogg.
He is survived by: his children, Steve Hogg (Teri) and Lisa Griffith (Brent); his sister Polly Wood; his grandchildren, Stephanie Derzis, Justin Griffith (Alvaro), Cody Griffith (Tori) and Tyler Griffith (Shea); and his great grandchildren, Alexis Mitchell, Christian Gilbert, Jeslyn Holland, Zoe Griffith, Sadie Griffith, Casey Griffith, Santi Griffith, Colt Griffith and Amelia Griffith. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 13th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Peoples Chapel Funeral Home (195 Brooklane Dr, Bessemer, AL 35023). A funeral service was held on Friday, December 13th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Whether it was coaching local youth in sports or dropping everything to donate blood when needed, his contributions to society were immeasurable.
