With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James Atherton of Bessemer, Alabama, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on January 23, 2025 at the age of 74. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, James G. Atherton and Libby Ferro. He is survived by: his wife Loretta Sarabia Atherton; his children, Jessica Atherton, Jim G. Atherton of Chattanooga and Daniel S. Atherton (Emily) of Bessemer; his grandchildren, Samuel, Luke and Grace Atherton of Bessemer; his sister Dianne McCabe of Okeechobee, Florida; and his brothers-in-law, Gilbert G. Sarabia (Cindy) of New Port Richey and Gary Sarabia (Sherri) of Lutz, Florida. He is also survived by many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
