He was predeceased by: his parents, Elizabeth Johnson and George Essman; and his son Joel Scott. He is survived by: his wife Patsy; his children, Lane Essman (Simone), Laura Parker (Rex) and Ladd Essman (Candi); and his grandchildren, Cory Parker (Shannon), Kayla Osborn (Zach), Jessica Lacy (Justin) and Chelsey Young (Seth). He is also survived by 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Canaan Baptist Church (2543 Morgan Rd, Bessemer, AL 35022). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 at the Moore Cemetery.
