It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Donald Joseph Kennedy of Bessemer, Alabama, born in Coeburn, Virginia, who passed away on March 11, 2024, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Thaddeus Dewitt Kennedy and Melissa Ellen Hall Kennedy; his grandchildren, Mary Katherine Kirkpatrick, Matthew Kirkpatrick and Michael Kirkpatrick; and his sisters, Theresa Kennedy Moore, Nita Kennedy Jessee and Rosa Ellen Kennedy Mullins.

He is survived by: his children, Katherine Kennedy Kirkpatrick (Jimmy) and Kim Kennedy Kimbrell (Dale); his grandson Joseph Kirkpatrick (Charlotte); his children, Jonathan Kimbrell, Rachel Kirkpatrick, Nathan Kirkpatrick, Hannah Kirkpatrick, Andrew Kirkpatrick, Daniel Kirkpatrick, Samuel Kirkpatrick, Joshua Kirkpatrick and Jordan Kirkpatrick; his great grandchild Austin Ward; his grandchildren, Chase Ward and Everleigh Ward; his brother Forest Paul Kennedy (Ruth); and his nieces and nephews, Wayne, Jimmy, Phil, Olivia, Hollie, Nick, Ashley, Cody and Dean.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in memory of Don to either Alabama Oncology at Grandview Cancer Center (3670 Grandview Pkwy Suite 200, Birmingham, AL 35243) or Alabama Cardiovascular Group (3680 Grandview Pkwy Suite 200 Birmingham, AL 35243).
