She was predeceased by: her husband Richard W. Nelson; her parents, David Gurganus and Martha Gurganus; and her siblings, Lula Mae Knight, Brady Gurganus, Grady Gurganus, Clement Gurganus, J. D. Gurganus and Milton Gurganus.
She is survived by: her children, Mike Lee (Judy), Patricia N. Pendley, Penne N. Smith and Paula Daniels (Bobby); her siblings, Pauline Smallwood, Marie Gant (Leon) and Hubert Gurganus (Claudia); her grandchildren, Marie Lee, Stacie Patilla (Joseph), Leslie Morgan (Todd), Cassie Mullinex (Billy), Kryssi Diekemper (Matt), Aaron Fondren and Andrew Fondren; and her great grandchildren, Sawyer Morgan and Evan Morgan. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
