He was predeceased by: his parents, Carlos Nelson and Mexie Kelly Nelson; and his siblings, Carlos Nelson, Jr. and Faye Smith. He is survived by: his wife Zelma Gurganus Nelson; his daughters, Patricia Pendley, Penne Smith and Paula Daniels (Bobby); his stepson Michael Lee (Judy); and his sisters, Betty Deavours and Kelly Westbrook. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
