He was predeceased by: his parents, Leon Rouse and Edna Rouse; his siblings, Harold Rouse and Diane Bean of Harrisburg, VA; and his grandparents, James and Vye Rouse.

He is survived by: his daughters, Jamie Brewer (Phillip) of Flora Vista and Christy Rouse of Odenville, AL; his grandsons, Joe Klein Brewer and Joe Lynn Brashear; his sisters, Betty Arnold of Leeds, Barbara Jefferson (Austin) of Jasper and Patricia McMahon of Bonners Ferry, Idaho; and his friend Brenda West. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and many friends.
