He was predeceased by: his parents, Floyd Franklin and Clara Mae Owens Smith; and his sister Laura Cooper. He is survived by: his daughters, Lori Peacock (Larry) of Bay Minette, AL, Lynda Demko of Bay Minette, AL and Lisa Demko (Joey) of Bay Minette, AL; and his grandchildren, Tiffany Long (Chris), Trent Roberson, Chassity Flores (Ray), Cassondra Marion (Jarrod), Eddie Steele (Kristi), Candice Adams (Dominque), Carli Johnson (Joel), C. J. Demko and Charlie Demko. He is also survived by twenty-three great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
