He was predeceased by: his wife Joline Russell Godwin; his children, Dewey Godwin, Jr. and Melaine Godwin; his siblings, Billy Godwin and Mary Langham; and his parents, W. F. Godwin and Garner Godwin.
He is survived by: his children, Karen Godwin Helms of Bay Minette, AL, Russell Godwin of Bay Minette, AL and Sarah Godwin Hembree (Jeff) of Winston-Salem, NC; his grandchildren, Marcia Hastings (Jody) of Bay Minette, AL, Monica Walker (Michael) of Bay Minette, AL, Courtney Godwin of Pensacola, FL, Daniel Godwin of Bay Minette, AL, Candace Milstead (Shane) of Bay Minette, AL, Jeremy Hembree (Devon) of Winston-Salem, NC and Morgan Baker (Grant) of Ashville, NC; his great grandchildren, Madison Hastings, Mallory Hastings, Landen Walker, Lauren Walker and Mason Milstead; and his grandsons, Jody Hastings, Michael Walker, Grant Baker and Shane Milstead.
