He is survived by: his wife Gloria Sewell Abernathy; his sons, Thomas Sheppard Abernathy, III (Mara) and John Morgan Abernathy (Lindsey); his grandchildren, Anna, Joel, Ben, Lily, Gracie and Mac; and his sister Sue Vecsey.
