It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Lafayette Guthrie (Auburn, Alabama), who passed away on January 23, 2023, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Wesley Guthrie, Jr. and Nellie Rebecca Beecham Guthrie. He is survived by: his wife Kay Couvrette Guthrie; his siblings, Larry Dewain Guthrie and Jeanne Guthrie; his children, Kathy Guthrie Padgett, Ann Rebecca Guthrie and Luci Guthrie Davis (Rob); and his grandchildren, Anna Kathryn Padgett, William "Will" Richard Davis and Reese James Davis.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Richard L. Guthrie Award for Achievement in International Agriculture, which was established to recognize distinguished achievement in international teaching, research, extension, or outreach in the College of Agriculture at Auburn University.
