She was predeceased by: her parents, Dr. Benjamin M. Carraway and Edna Merle Carraway; her former husband George W. King; and her sister Peggy Carraway Peake. She is survived by: her husband James Dilworth, Sr.; her children, Stephen King (Connie), Stephanie Hughes (Joseph) and Suzanne Harris (Marc); her brother Dr. Robert P. Carraway (Jean); and her stepchildren, James Dilworth, Jr., Caroline Minicozzi, Jessica Pittman (Lester) and Michael Dilworth (Brooke). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.
Joan always had a passion for helping those in need and gave her time and donations to the East Alabama Food Bank, Lee County Youth Development Center, Keep Opelika Beautiful, Opelika Historical Society, and Opelika Girl Scouts.
