He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer E. Lawhead and Zorada S. Lawhead. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Lawhead; his children, Jeff Lawhead (Marianne) and Jill Wilkinson (Clint); and his grandchildren, Austin Lawhead (Joslyn), Sarah MacDonnell (Dan), Claire Mosley (Graham) and Anne Reid (Schaffer). He is also survived by seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Jerry's name to St. Paul's Episcopal Church, "Wings Dementia Program" 210 Lauderdale Street, Selma Alabama 36701 or to Trinity Lutheran Church 446 Gay Street, Auburn Alabama 36830.
