It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Elizabeth A. Rutland of Auburn, Alabama, who passed away on April 17, 2025, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, James Hutto and Trevah Hutto; her husband Gene Rutland; her daughter Becky Atkinson; her brother David Hutto; and her stepson Steve Rutland.
She is survived by: her adoptive son Paul Folsom; her children, Teresa Dickman (Donna) and John Atkinson; her grandchildren, Jennie Nichols and Andy (Kaitlyn); her stepdaughter-in-law Rita Rutland; her stepdaughter Genna Mitchell (Doug); her stepgrandchildren, Antiown Cook (Jessica), Anthony Cook (Kimberly), Justin Mitchell (Hayden) and Andrea Parrott (Bryan); her great grandchildren, Dalton Cook (Chandler), Ellie Nichols, BriAnna Cook, Makayla Garner (Andrew), Ansley Cook, Kaleb, Kade and Jaxon; and her nieces, Keitha Zittle (Rick) and Kim Rhyne (Steven).
Visitation was held on Monday, April 21st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Jeffcoat-Trant Funeral Home (1500 Frederick Rd, Opelika, AL 36801). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Grace United Methodist Church (915 E Glenn Ave, Auburn, AL 36830).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or the Food Bank of East Alabama.
