In loving memory of Cecil C. Spear Jr. of Auburn, Alabama, who departed this world on June 16, 2024 at the age of 89. Cecil leaves behind a legacy remembered by family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Cecil Sr. Spear and Hattie Mae Webster Spear of Lapine, Alabama.; and his wife Joyce Williamson of Goshen, Alabama.. He is survived by: his children, Alan Spear (Julie) and Melissa Spear Northcutt (Van); his sister Jane Braswell; his grandchildren, Michael, Taylor Spear, Bradley Northcutt (Claire), Sarah Summers (Wells), Chris Northcutt (Alyssa) and Casey Northcutt; and his great grandchildren, Caroline, Kate, Molly and Helen Northcutt.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Cecil's memory may be sent to the St. James Church (http://www.sjlife.com), Grace Auburn Church (http://www.graceauburn.church), or the New Walk of Life Church (http://www.newwalkoflifechurchmgm.org), both in Montgomery, AL.

“When we prayed with the patients, we would give them a card, and they loved Cecil and the cards. I knew it was not easy for him to come at times, as he was using a walker and had some trouble standing from sitting. But he was strong and determined and always joyful and grateful. When he would leave, he would ask me again for the names of the people with whom we prayed so that he could pray for them at home.”

“Several months ago sweet Cecil Spear came into my life while I was working at Mercy Medical Ministry. I knew when we met that he and his daughter Melissa were special, but little did I know what an impact Cecil would have on me, the staff, and the patients with whom we had the privilege of praying. Cecil brought some beautiful cards with a painting of his on the front depicting three crosses and scripture on the back.”
