He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Umbach (Swede) and Lucile Cox Umbach. He is survived by: his wife Bobbie Thomas Umbach; his sons, Arnold William Umbach III (Ashley) of Birmingham, AL and Matthew Heath Umbach (Debbie) of Boston, MA.; his brother Richard Earl Umbach (Susan) of Columbia, SC.; and his grandchildren, William Swede Umbach, Robert Dowie Umbach, Warren Watkins Umbach, Taylor Kelly Umbach and Logan Thomas Umbach. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

As I have thought about him and about you and about my days in the Auburn school system, one recurring memory presents itself...the little class play we did about nutmeg and you being the princess and Arnold being the prince. None of knew at that time that you two would walk through an amazing life together started at that time. After the grief begins to lessen, may the remembrance of your fabulous lives bring you peace.”
