He is survived by: his wife Dianne Jones Ashley; his daughters, Elisabeth Ashley Roberts (Taylor) and Paulette Ashley Crawford (Danny); and his grandchildren, Grady, Collette Royer and Adeline Crawford.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the research of Spinal Muscular Atrophy through the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
