He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Junior Smith and Bonnie Jean Vaughn Smith; his grandson Jacob Smith; and his siblings, Carol Hopper and John Craig Smith.

He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Smith; his children, Scott Smith (Karen) and Deborah Smith; his grandsons, Kevin, Brandon and Noah; and his siblings, Peter Smith, Timothy Smith, Darnell Tucker, Connie Wilemon and Juanita Wasylenka. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and extended family.
