He was predeceased by: his parents, Orville Battles and Dorothy Battles; and his sister Janet Snead. He is survived by: his brothers, Wayne Battles (Debra) and Philip Battles (Sharon); his son Joe Swann (Donna); and his granddaughters, Hannah and Savannah Hoedl. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to John Croyle's Big Oak Boys Ranch.
