It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Preston Verdell Bates Jr. of Attalla, Alabama, who passed away on June 29, 2021, at the age of 56, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Preston Verdell Bates, Sr. and Reba Faye Bates; and his sister Bundie Brooke Bates. He is survived by: his wife Julie Quarles Bates; his children, Jessica Bates, Evan Bates (Cheyenne) and Adam Bates; his sisters, Brooke Frazier (Chris), Darlene Blanks (Darrell), Cindy Bates and Kristi Barrett; his niece Coley Venable; his parents-in-law, Rev. Clarence and Linda Quarles; and his friends, Roger Venable, Toby Pendergrass, Chris Frazier, Franklin Cookston, Jordan Cookston, Jackson Tidmore and James Griffith. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
