He was predeceased by: his parents, Foye Elizabeth Smallwood Chapman and James Gordon Chapman; his brother Michael Dean Chapman; and his daughter Laura Beth Vincent. He is survived by: his children, Shannan Chapman Wilkinson (Joe) and Casey Chapman; and his siblings, Diane Haney and Mark Chapman. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
