He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara Beth Hammett; his parents, James Hammett and Eugenia Hammett; his son Shane Dougherty; and his grandson Chance Wayne Hammett.
He is survived by: his children, James Fred Hammett, Jr., William Raymond Dougherty and Shana Rhea Hammett (Steve Teague); his grandchildren, Koby Dice Hammett, Alexis Rain Hammett, Shane Teague and Hailey Teague; and his brothers, Allen Hammett (Tina), Darrell Hammett (Charlotte), Randall Hammett (Sharry), PAul Hammett (Martha) and Vaughn Hammett. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Etowah Memorial Chapel (12600 US-431, Sardis City, AL 35956). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 5th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
