He was predeceased by: his mother Naomi Jeffers Garrard; his former wife Geraldine Lowell Garrard; and his siblings, Betty Burnette, T. J., Jack, Otis and Billy.

He is survived by: his wife Gail Beard Garrard; his children, Mike Garrard of Gadsden and Deb McDonald (Thomas); his stepchildren, Sheila Mashburn of Attalla and Terry Farmer of Southside; his grandsons, Micah (Lisa), Seth (Bethany) and Adam; his stepgrandchildren, Lauren Farmer (Shawn), Stephen Farmer (Lisa), Erin Mashburn (Joel) and Cody Mashburn (Gigi); and his siblings, Deloris Harrison, Tommy, Donnie, Nicky, Jackie and Jimmy. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
