He was predeceased by: his parents, Manly Cox and Della Cox; and his siblings, Jimmy Cox, Gloria Dean Battles, Mary Ann Cox and Margie Vickery Cash.

He is survived by: his wife Geraldine Little Cox; his sons, Gary Cox (Peggy), Alan Cox (June) and Tommy Cox (Celia); his grandchildren, Chad Cox (Chrystal), Amy Lipscomb (Chad), Chris Cox (Shandi), Jenny Richey (Michael), Jason Cox (Kelli), Josh Cox (Paige) and Brittany Womack (Jesse); and his sisters, Kathleen Ingles, Betty Jo McClendon, Margaret Williams and Carolyn Cox. He is also survived by great grandchildren.
