He was predeceased by: his parents, Wesley Hayles and Arlie Shipp Hayles; his son Chris Hayles; and his siblings, Marvin Hayles, Ollie Mae Stafford, Helen Colbert, Eubie Hayles, Letha Freeman and Lula Mae Colbert.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Pruett Hayles; his children, James "Robbie" Hayles of Lottie, AL and Kathy Davis of Atmore, AL; and his brother Edison Hayles of Poarch, AL. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
