In the hush of twilight, as the stars twinkle in silent homage, we reflect on the legacy James leaves behind and his impact on the lives of his loved ones. Though James may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the memories held dear by his family and friends, a guiding light that illuminates their paths in times of darkness.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John William and Nellie Katherine Summerlin Sermons; his brothers, Gerald Sermons and Donald Sermons; and his brother-in-law Robert Edwin Miller.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Sermons; his children, Damon Andrew and Ivy Burleson; and his sister Margaret Miller. He is also survived by several other grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home (1322 S Main St, Atmore, AL 36502). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 8th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel (1322 S Main St, Atmore, AL 36502).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
