She was predeceased by : her parents, Edgar Crawford and Shirley Crawford. She is survived by : her husband Colonel Charles L. (Ret); her children, Rebecca Ann McMurtrey and Charles L. McMurtrey, IV; her mother-in-law Melva McMurtrey; and her siblings, Alice Crawford of Atlanta, Georgia and Edgar Crawford of Haleiwa, Hawaii..

A celebration of life was held on Wednesday, July 3rd 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Emmanuel Baptist Church (1917 US Hwy 72 W, Athens, AL 35611). The military honors will be held on Thursday, July 18th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the National Cemetery (3133 Hwy 119, Montevallo, AL 35115).

In lieu of flowers, donations in Debbie's memory can be made to the Athens Limestone Animal Shelter.
