He was predeceased by: his wife Valentina McCollum; his parents, Perry Walker McCollum and Willie Hardy McCollum; his sisters, Vi Ivey (Paul), Jean Anderson (John) and Margaret Hare; and his brother-in-law Reverand Gary Hare.

He is survived by: his children, Tina Hargett (Jerry), Karen Roberts, Amanda Atchison (Tom), Ted McCollum (LaChelle) and Bonnie; and his sisters, Patsy Johnson (Kenneth), Virginia Gulledge (Buddy) and Charlotte Reynolds (Bill). He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.
