She was predeceased by: her father Henry W. Spencer, Jr.; her husband James E. Kilpatrick, Sr.; her siblings, Lonnie Spencer, Leavy Spencer, Johnny Spencer and Leila Carr; her son David Kilpatrick; and her granddaughter Mandae Sowell.
She is survived by: her children, Fay Vines (Keith), Betsy Bass (Randy), Ed Kilpatrick (Donna Kay) and Joseph D. Kilpatrick. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, several nephews, nieces.
